FABRIC:
Made from our first batch of eco-printed recycled cotton sheets. Each piece is printed with sumac leaves gathered from our neighborhood, revealing delicate organic patterns and earthy shades that reflect the plant’s natural tannins and autumn hues.

Eco-printing is a botanical dyeing technique that transfers the natural colors and shapes of plants directly onto plant-based fabrics — creating one-of-a-kind organic patterns.
The process begins with the selection of untreated, recycled cotton fabrics, which are soaked in a natural mordant to help absorb and bind color. The washed material is then wrapped with certain leaves, flowers, and other natural elements. For deeper tones or special effects, the fabric is sometimes pre-treated with an iron, black tea or other solutions before wrapping.
The wrapped bundles are then steamed in hot water for about two hours, allowing the pigments to fully develop and transfer onto the fibers. Afterward, each fabric is carefully washed, dried, and finished — ready to be transformed into truly unique handmade pieces.

The Story of Sumac
Originating in the warm landscapes of the Middle East and Persia, sumac has travelled across continents for centuries. In ancient kitchens, its deep red berries added a bright, lemony flavor long before citrus fruits were known. The same plant gave dyers rich earthy pigments, used to color textiles and leather in shades of gold and rust.
Across the ocean, Native American tribes found their own meanings in sumac — using its leaves and berries for dyes, medicine, and ceremonial smokes symbolizing balance and renewal. With every use, sumac connected people to the rhythm of the seasons — a plant of color, flavor, and transformation.

I ask for your understanding and consideration when placing an order.
Please avoid ordering multiple items with the intention of keeping only one.
This practice leads to unnecessary production and contradicts our commitment to sustainability.
