Captn-Crop strives to create authentic & unique yet everyday pieces at fair prices for all those people who appreciate the quality, creativity and aesthetics of handmade products.
Moritz Wolfgruber founded Captn-Crop in 2007 when he developed his own technique for making hats. Over the years, however, it has evolved into much, much more.

Mission
Every day we strive to make the best customised hats, caps, bags, backpacks and accessories for people around the world.
We started creating hats because we felt the need for simple, but authentic products of highest quality that are as unique as the people who wear them.
Captn Crop values design, functionality and quality above all. By constantly experimenting with new techniques, materials and ideas, new products are always being made and perfected in our Berlin studio and store.

Products that constantly accompany us in everyday life, but today are almost exclusively mass-produced, are made by hand at Captn-Crop in the highest quality, variety and individuality.
The uniqueness and charm of old fabrics, drawn by time, light and chance, are impossible to produce industrially. To preserve and display the aesthetics, history and culture of textiles through functional products is the basic idea behind Captn-Crop.
Our Shop
Our shop is based in Neukölln, Berlin, where every Captn Crop item is made.
We moved in our shop in Reuterstrasse in December 2009 and since that day a lot happened inside & outside. We constantly adjusted and rebuilded our studio to create a striking display as well as a spacious working area. We built the interior of our workshop entirely from wood and found materials. The outside is all green & covered with plants.
In 2020 a neighbours apartment burned down and we had to take it all down. A couple of months later though we were able build it up again and plant new vines.
At the beginning of 2023, the German regulatory authorities forced us to dismantle everything for ridiculous reasons, no chance of talking or negotiating. We want to spare you the current picture of the facade of our store here.

Our Studio
In january 2023 we moved the workshop with all our machines from our shop to a new bright and spacious studio in Berlin Lichtenberg. We were very lucky to find a workspace in of Berlins last oasis, yet threatened from the construction of the totally absurd "autobahn" project through the middle of Berlin.
Every few month we have open studio days were you can visit us in our new studio.

We believe that the world we live in is a very imperfect and unjust world.
For this reason, we need and want to do things differently and try to make things better. Make it better for the environment but also for us people who live in this world.
The planet and its inhabitants are in danger of extinction and environmental pollution, people suffer from alienated work conditions & increasing environmental catastrophes, to name just a few problems due to excesses of industrial mass-production.

Logo
Facing these issues we feel the need for change. What we can change with our ideas and skills is to create sustainable, environmentally friendly products, locally produced under fair and ethical work conditions.
Products crafted for their beauty and functionality and not only for making money and adding value. Being able to identify ourself with our work and what we do, is most important for us.
Our Logo comes from the scratches of a prisoner who wants to break free.We try to break free from the money machine and its destructiveness as best as we can to make the world a little better and still be able to live from what we love to do.
A symbol of resistance against destructive structures, the will to change as well as the passion for what we are struggling for and simply the lust for life is just one of the messages and meanings that our logo expresses for us.
